These were my 2nd pair of FAMMZ (Hispar) boots, and just like my first pair, sized exactly to the specs listed in the manufacturer's sizing chart. Let me clarify in the hopes it helps others determine what size is right for them?First, the calf size listed is spot-on to what is detailed on the Sizing Chart. No more, no less, it is exactly as it is detailed on the chart. Point being, if you plan to wear knee-high socks with these boots, make sure that you measure over the socks to get the correct measurement. Same goes for if you plan to tuck jeans down inside them -- measure over the jeans to ensure the correct measurement needed. Fit-wise? The shafts are snug but are not tight, nor are they "loose and floppy" in fit. A pair of equestrian boot pulls may aid riders in pulling them on, although I was easily able to pull mine on without boot hooks. The same goes for the height of the boot. The shaft height in inches as listed on the Sizing Chart is as measured from the top of the heel to the top of the boot shaft. These are very tall boots that come right up to your knees. As with most styles of "riding boots," these are cut a little taller as to account for a roughly 1" drop in height once the boots break in at the ankles. This means the boots will feel "too tall" until they break in, and this may include difficulty in walking, sitting down, driving, or other actions where you need to bend at the knee. Don't know what to say other than this is only a temporary inconvenience until the boots are broken in. But honestly, that goes for any brand new pair of tall boots?!The leather quality and overall finish are nice, and really cannot be beat for the price. The soles are rubber, but easily replaced if the sole is not quite your style? All in all, these are a great looking pair of boots that are stylish and extremely comfortable to wear. So comfortable that I'll definitely be ordering another pair sometime soon. For my money, they're the best $200+ mid-priced boot on the market.
